With title such as these, you know that you would not expect to see brands such as bunn or braun. The coffee maker that you are going to see is going to be very different.

To many people, best coffee makers are some brands and make of machine that are likely to give them very good coffee. That is the expectations. And most of us are aware that there would be more than one brands, and of course, out of all these brands, there would be one that is suitable for ourselves.

In South East Asia, the folks there also loves their coffee. And the local coffee chains are similar if not bigger in terms of outlets and capacity to starbucks. And we are not talking about only one chains, but multiple of them.

Well, if there is a chain of outlets, which means that they are very popular among the local, the next question is the brand of coffee makers that they are using. You would be thinking that these are the best coffee makers that you can use for brewing your coffee at home too.

The bad news is you cannot bring these “coffee makers” home. This is because they are just a pair of hands that prepares the coffee using very simple equipment like coffee socks. Of course, this meant that you cannot buy the coffee maker.

Of course these pairs of hands that belong to some uncles or aunties are very valuable. They are known as “tou jiu” locally, a term that mean baristas. And as the guy who brews the coffee, they are also the overall in charge of the outlet.

You might be surprised that uncles and aunties instead of some sexy young thing are prized in this region. This is mainly due to the coffee profile of the consumers here. In fact, the usual bunn or cuisinart coffee maker do not even have a large market share here.

The really big players are the chains that prepares coffee using the coffee socks, this is also how the folks are enjoying their coffee most of the time. In fact, not many people would be brewing coffee at home.

That is the reason why I highlight that as someone that is from the western society, you would be very surprised that the version of best coffee makers are human hands preparing coffee from the socks.

This is also the reason that I have put forward the notion in many of my articles that best coffee maker is not a brand or machine but the brewer that is suitable for an individual lifestyle.

I hope this article provides an insight into how different coffee drinking habits can be and how different the expectations of best coffee brewers can be. My thought is to bring consumer from the mindset of a particular brand or model into evaluating and then deciding what is really suitable for them.
